Would you like to book a holiday home, Bed and Breakfast or unique accommodation in southern Belgium, but don’t know the differences between these 3 types of accommodation ?

We’ll help you find the accommodation that’s right for you !

What is a holiday home ?

A holiday home is a house, part of a house or apartment with all the infrastructure you need (living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, garden…) to feel “at home”. It can be located in the countryside or in the city.

We have an official classification ranging from 1 to 5 épis (keys), assessing the level of equipment and comfort. They can accommodate from 1 to 50 people (sometimes even more) and can be rented for a short stay (min. 2 nights), a weekend, a week, or even longer. Some holiday homes can be rented for as little as one night. Find out more !

In addition to the rental price, you will regularly be asked to contribute to the costs of your stay (electricity, heating, water) and to pay additional charges (cleaning, linen hire, etc.). A guarantee will also be required to cover any damage caused during your stay.

The owner usually takes care of reception. Available but discreet, he’ll give you all the information you need to discover the innumerable treasures of the holiday home’s region.

What is a bed and breakfast ?

A Bed and Breakfast is a room that forms part of the owner’s personal dwelling, or is located in an annex of the property, close to the owner’s home. It can be located in the country or in town. We have an official classification ranging from 1 to 5 “épis” (keys), assessing the level of equipment and comfort.

A house or property can accommodate from 1 to 5 guest rooms. A Bed and Breakfast can be rented for one night or more, and usually includes breakfast. Varied and copious, it often includes local products (homemade jams, regional cheeses or charcuterie…). Some BBs also offer Table d’Hôtes. Reserved exclusively for guests staying on site, the owner invites you to share an evening meal and sample the richness of regional cuisine.

You are staying with private individuals who offer different services from the hotel. Find out more about the services on offer.

Through discussions with the owner, you’ll learn to discover the region and immerse yourself in the local culture.

What is an unique accommodation ?

A tourist accommodation is considered unusual when it presents characteristics that are contrary to common usage, unexpected and unusual, particularly with regard to its architecture, its use other than its original purpose, the originality of its activities and services, and its unique geographical location.

They can take many different forms (cabins, trailers, barges, bubbles, windmills, etc.) and can therefore accommodate a wide variety of people. Find out more !

Given its unusual character, it rarely has an official classification, but is comfortably furnished. It can be rented for a night, a weekend, a week or more.

The owner usually takes care of reception. Available but discreet, he/she will give you all the information you need to discover the countless treasures of the area around the accommodation.
