Momignies is a rural commune in the heart of the Thiérache, a natural region characterized by bocages, grasslands, rolling hills and traditional stone houses, and surrounded by the Avesnois nature park.

You're just a stone's throw from the forest (300 m) and the Ravel (500 m). The latter passes through the medieval and principality town of Chimay on its way to Mariembourg (a town designed by Vauban), while taking in the sights nearby: the Aquascope de Virelles (a bird sanctuary), Lompret (one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia), the Chemin de Fer à Vapeur des Trois Vallées, the Fondry des chiens site, the Eau d'Heure lakes, a saffron farm and many other attractions.

All these activities can be enjoyed while sampling local products such as craft beers, cheeses, Escavêche, snails, etc.

Walkers and cyclists can also enjoy the 120 km cross-border loop linking Maubeuge, Erquelinnes, Thuin, Chimay, Momignies and Glageon-Trélon, as well as many other itineraries.

Walking boots and bicycles can also rest in a closed, secure storage area.

Our gîte will also welcome the youngest guests, who will be able to rest in a baby cot, enjoy tasty meals in their highchair and take advantage of a comfortable changing table in the bathroom. A safety gate is also available.

Young and old alike can relax in a private garden in fine weather, or in front of a pellet stove in winter, while planning the next day's activities, since the region, whether Belgian or French, is full of all kinds of activities.
