Holiday home - Onhaye - Au petit Som'
View
Welcome to "Le Petit Som", a pretty little country gîte (3 épis) for 4 to 6 people, perched high above the village of Sommière.
Our gîte, which is particularly well-suited to cyclists, has been awarded the "Bienvenue Vélo" label since May 2024 :D

Mélissa and Antoine welcome you to their cosy little nest adjoining the family home. This place was renovated to reconcile the charm of the old local stone building with the comfort of modern facilities (fully equipped kitchen, underfloor heating, Italian shower, etc.).
Its location is ideal for visitors wishing to explore the interesting points of interest in the Haute-Meuse region. The holiday home is located halfway between the citadel of Dinant and the abbey of Maredsous (15 minutes by car, 35 minutes by bike).
The place is equipped with a charging socket for electric cars fixed at the private parking lot (2 spaces). The small private garden has a terrace and bicycle storage. You can leave your two-wheelers there in complete safety, recharge the batteries, and carry out maintenance and cleaning.
A godsend, because the country of St-Walhère (part of the Onhaye region) is best known for its many walks and bike rides.
The castles of Crèvecoeur and Montaigle are both walking distance from the residence. One of the castles is perched on the heights of the mediaeval village of Bouvignes, for an amazing view of the Dinant valley. The other castle is more discreet but is just as noble, and is located where the River Molignée and River Flavion meet.
The neighbouring village, Falaën, is one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia. It is also the starting point for the handrails (“draisines”). If you don't let their unpronounceable name put you off, the villages of Weillen, Onhaye, Serville and Ostemerée are also worth exploring.
In addition to the walking paths, the "ExploreMeuse" Tourist Center in Dinant can offer you a multitude of activities to do in the surrounding area (off-road scooter rides, small boats, Pataphonie houses, Leffe Museum, etc.).
See you soon 🙂

The owners
Antoine ROSIER & Mélissa LAMONTAGNE
Mélissa and Antoine are teachers in a secondary school in Namur. Mélissa teaches English and Dutch to students from 15 to 18 years old. Antoine is a geography and history teacher in lower secondary education for 12 to 15 years old. They are lucky enough to live in the old house of Antoine's grandparents, located at the top of the village of Sommière, between the River Meuse and the River Flavion. Outside their work, they share a common interest in hiking, gardening and general ecology. Antoine is a volunteer in the trails group in the Onhaye area and will be happy to advise you on local trails of interest. Mélissa is always enthusiastic to present her native region in Dutch, her favourite language.
